Fashion, florals, and a micro-forest: Garden Club gala raises record total for conservation projects
The Coral Gables Garden Club’s fourth annual Fashions & Florals "Nightfall in the Garden" gala at the Coral Gables Golf and Country Club raised a record-breaking $50,000+ to support conservation projects including a new micro-forest at a city entrance and habitat restoration at Girl Scout Camp Mahachee. The elegant evening featured a fashion show by designer Julian Chang, floral décor, live music, and strong community support from city officials and sponsors.

Our 4th Annual Fashions and Florals “Nightfall in the Garden” fundraising event will be held at the historic Coral Gables Country Club. This enchanted evening will feature an avant-garde fashion show by designer Julian Chang along with beautiful flower arrangements, cocktails, elegant dinner, lively music, dancing, and a silent auction.

Coral Gables Garden Club Continues Its Support of Camp Mahachee Restoration with $25,000 Donation
The Coral Gables Garden Club kicked off the new year at the hidden gem and treasured Camp Mahachee with a donation to the Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida in the amount of $5,000, the first donation as part of their recent five year commitment of $25,000. This donation builds on the Garden Club’s long-standing commitment to preserving and restoring South Florida’s native landscape.

The Coral Gables Garden Club is celebrating its 100th anniversary with the "A Century in Bloom" historical exhibition at the Coral Gables Library, showcasing archival photos, documents, and stories of the club's role in shaping the city's lush landscapes since its founding in 1925 alongside the city's incorporation. The exhibit highlights early civic projects, collaborations with the Merrick family, youth education initiatives, and the club's ongoing influence on beautification, conservation, and community stewardship in Coral Gables.

A Century in Bloom – The Legacy Of The Coral Gables Garden Club
Founded in 1925 by women including members of founder George Merrick’s family, the Coral Gables Garden Club has spent a century advancing civic beautification, environmental education, and conservation through projects like designing grand city entrances, commissioning statues, creating butterfly gardens, and restoring habitats. The club continues its legacy with pollinator gardens, mangrove plantings, scholarships, therapy programs, and centennial initiatives that emphasize native plants and community engagement.

Coral Gables Garden Club Plants Pollinator Gardens
As part of its Centennial celebration, the Coral Gables Garden Club is funding and establishing pollinator gardens at city sites like the Youth Center and Library, plus awarding grants to multiple local schools to create their own habitats supporting butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. The club is also gifting an eco-sculpture by artist Xavier Cortada to the library and hosting a free community celebration at the Merrick House.

Coral Gables Garden Club Blossoms into a New Year with Enthusiasm, Fashions and Florals, 4th Annual AS I SEE IT Photography competition, green initiatives and butterfly conservation!
The Coral Gables Garden Club kicked off the year with tree plantings for butterfly host plants, Garden Therapy workshops for children, and the 4th Annual "As I See It" nature photography competition offering over $4,000 in prizes. The club’s major fundraiser, the Fashions and Florals event at the Coral Gables Museum, combines fashion, floral design, and a public flower show to support conservation, education, and scholarships.

Historic Gables camp lets Girl Scouts enjoy the outdoors
Girl Scout Camp Mahachee, a historic 11-acre site in Coral Gables purchased in 1945, has undergone major restoration to combat invasive plants and restore native hardwood hammock habitat through partnerships including the Coral Gables Garden Club and community fundraising. Volunteers, including Girl Scouts, have planted thousands of native trees and created a butterfly garden, aiming to preserve the site as an educational outdoor space for future generations.

Allen Morris Supports the Coral Gables Garden Club
The Allen Morris Company served as the Grand Sponsor of the Coral Gables Garden Club’s 2nd annual "As I See It" photography competition, which featured nature and wildlife images from across Florida and awarded prizes including a $1,000 grand prize. Winning photographs were previewed and displayed at the Allen Morris building, with the company’s support tied to family connections to the Garden Club.
