School Gardens

Coral Gables Garden Club began funding edible school gardens in 2010 with its first installation at Coral Gables Elementary School. The club continues their support today at the Ponce de Leon Middle School in their vegetable and Peace gardens.

We are proud of this project and our collaboration with Slow Food and the Coral Gables Community Foundation, which provided two park benches for the Peace garden.

By teaching young students to love and appreciate plants we are nurturing future gardeners and stewards of the environment.

Members of the middle school garden club have fun weeding and planting.

Teaching kids how to feed themselves and how to live in a community responsibly is the center of an education.
