Blue Star
Memorial Marker

Located in front of the Coral Gables War Memorial Youth Center, 205 University Drive, our Blue Star Memorial Marker was dedicated in 2019, honoring those who sacrificed their lives for our country serving in the US Armed Forces. This marker represents a worthy partnership between our club, the City of Coral Gables and the National Garden Clubs.

The Blue Star Marker program began about 70 years ago, and since then over 3,000 markers, surrounded by flowers, have been dedicated across the country. In Florida our first Blue Star Memorial Highway Marker was dedicated on May 30, 1949 at the terminus of US 1 in Key West. Over 190 markers are now in place across our state.

Thanks to Evelyn Budde for continuing to place our wreath and flags around the marker, every Veterans day.

Evelyn Budde on November 11, 2022 continuing the garden club's tradition.  We appreciate everything she does.

It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather, we should thank God that such men lived.
